Game overview:
You are the legendary sword, needed to defeat the lands evil, unfortunately all those with the heroic blood needed to wield you are single minded idiots, who believe themselves invincible now they have you! The hero will walk towards their objective of their own accord, you must protect them and manipulate their movement so they reach the end of the dungeon alive!
Controls:
Left click:
If the sword is being held by the hero or embedded in the ground -> The sword flies to the point of the mouse click and uses one of three charges, embedding in the ground. the hero will then walk towards the sword to pick it up.
Right click:
If the sword is held by the hero -> sword turns 90 degrees to more effectively block
If the sword is in the ground -> increase hero move speed.
Space bar:
Progress intro dialogue
Full concept:
In a complete version of the game (where this would be the first "zone") extra mechanics would be present:
Choosing a wielder -> Choice of next hero when one dies, giving upgrades/bonus stats (hero health, sword charges, etc)
Time progression -> each time a hero dies, time progresses in the world, environment/enemies change a bit as the land becomes more corrupt, heroes are perhaps stronger as they rise to counter it (reverse of Sifu), after so many generations we reach a true fail state and progress is reset.
Post mortem:
Really enjoyed making the game! Next time will try to stick to something a bit simpler, the collision mechanics cost a lot of time and are still a bit broken... More complicated than expected to have an NPC follow the sword and collide correctly/path find. proud of the art and concept, will be many times more efficient next time!
